Oral Hygiene Therapy
Maintaining exceptional oral hygiene not only accentuates your beautiful smile but also greatly impacts your general health and well being. Hygiene therapy treatment, more often referred to as cleanings, ensure that your gum tissues are healthy and free of inflammation. Healthy gum tissues allow for proper foundational support and longevity of the teeth, but also reduce the risk of many chronic health conditions. For example, gum disease has been linked to diabetes, heart disease, pregnancy complications and is a risk factor for many other diseases.
Pediatric Dental Care
Your Child’s First Visit to the Dentist. Your child’s oral health is crucial for strong teeth, healthy gums, and proper development. The Canadian Dental Association recommends a first dental visit by age one or when the first tooth erupts. This visit focuses on education and prevention, as tooth decay is a common but entirely preventable issue in children. Our gentle, caring approach ensures your child gets the best care while we equip you with the knowledge to maintain their dental health.
Restorations
Tooth decay is one of the most common dental issues, occurring when bacteria break down the enamel and dentin. Once decay reaches the dentin, it must be removed and restored. Modern composite (white) fillings bond strongly to teeth, providing durability and a natural appearance without adding stress to the tooth structure.
Crowns
Dental crowns, or caps, protect weakened teeth at risk of fracture, especially after root canals, cracks, or decay. Made from metal, porcelain, or both, crowns are completed in two visits. The first appointment involves shaping the tooth and taking an impression for a custom crown, with a temporary crown placed in the meantime. The permanent crown is then fitted and cemented at the final visit.
Bridges
Dental bridges are a fixed solution for replacing missing teeth, restoring function, and preventing shifting. They require no surgery and are completed in 2-4 weeks. Made of three or more connected crowns, the outer crowns attach to adjacent teeth, while the middle one fills the gap. Bridges can be metal, porcelain-fused-to-metal, or zirconia for a natural look.
Veneers
Dental veneers are thin, custom-made porcelain shells that enhance the shape, color, and size of teeth. They can close gaps, correct minor misalignment, and cover chips or discoloration. Our team works closely with you to create a beautiful, natural-looking smile.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are a durable solution for missing teeth, consisting of a metal screw placed in the gum to replace the tooth root, topped with a white crown. With a high success rate, they can last for decades and don’t require altering surrounding teeth, unlike bridges.
Sedation
If dental visits cause you stress, you're not alone. Many people experience dental anxiety, often delaying care until emergencies arise. At Cannington Dental, we offer Nitrous Oxide sedation (laughing gas) to help relax you during your appointment. It works quickly, is safe with local anesthesia, and leaves your system fast, so you’ll feel normal by the end of your visit. Let our team know about any anxiety when booking, and we’ll ensure you receive the extra care and attention you need.
Teeth Whitening
Professional teeth whitening helps our patients smile with confidence. Before starting, we address any oral health concerns and recommend a routine cleaning for the best results. We offer custom take-home whitening trays, which are highly effective. Our team will guide you through the process and help monitor your progress. Once you’ve achieved your desired results, the trays can be reused. Ask about our Whitening for Life program to see if you qualify.
Invisalign
At Cannington Dental, we offer Invisalign, a discreet and effective orthodontic solution to straighten teeth. Using clear, custom-made aligners, Invisalign gradually shifts your teeth into place without the need for traditional metal braces. The aligners are comfortable, removable, and virtually invisible, making it an ideal option for both teens and adults. Our team will create a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve a confident, beautiful smile.
Mouth Guards
A night guard is a custom-fitted device designed to protect your teeth, jaw, and muscles from grinding and clenching during sleep. It helps prevent tooth wear, chronic pain, and TMJ issues. Our dentist will assess your dental habits to determine if a night guard is right for you. Sports guards are also available, offering protection for your teeth, jaw, and brain during high-impact activities. Custom-made for comfort and safety, both types of guards are created in-house by our skilled dental team.
